WHA Speech Team takes home five awards from Fergus Falls
Last Saturday the WHA Speech team attended their third in-person competition of the 2022 season. During the 2021 season, the team competed virtually, and while they experienced a lot of success, they are excited to get back on the road and back into classrooms to compete in-person with speakers from other schools. The team traveled to Fergus Falls to compete in the Otter Orations tournament and left with five awards:
The following speakers placed in the honor final round of their category: Abagayle Audette placed 6th Storytelling and Madison Kendrick placed 2nd in Drama. The following speakers competed in the final round of their categories: Ada Muller placed 6th in Discussion, Lily Burns placed 6th in Humor, and Sophia Landreville placed 6th in Poetry.
In the team competition, Bemidji placed 3rd, Melrose placed 2nd, and Staples-Motley placed 1st.
This weekend the team is on the road again to compete at Denfeld High School in Duluth. With the early bird tournaments behind them, the team hopes to compete at full strength this weekend.
