The last 300....and It’s a Wrap !!!
Oh my gosh...where did the summer go? Everyone says the same thing. Maybe because we had ice on the lake until early May? Regardless, we have lots to look forward to. But, first an update on the last race.
We had 300 turtle racers, an admirable number for this last race. And, the crowd, once again..was extremely energetic. We had international visitors again. A crew from London..we have had lots of Brits here and we love them! We spotted one family from Armenia!! How’s that! I had a chance to speak with the young man..remember I am old...he is my son’s age..so I call him young. His story is that he was raised in Minneapolis and started coming to the lake in the late 60’s..he must have been a baby. Maybe part of that caravan that leaves the cities every Friday afternoon and is on the road back again on Sunday afternoon. He moved to Armenia, started his own family and brought them back to visit Longville..we love that!!
In closing the season, a special thanks to all our fabulous volunteers..every week they show up so perky..God bless them. And a special hats off to our junior volunteers who help me with judging the races..a very fine team of hard workers. We all look forward next to Longville as a year round destination..with the beautiful fall colors, hunting season, ice fishing, snowmobiling ..and before you know it...the Turtle Races next summer. See you at the races.
