Hackensack Summit Meeting August 30
Hackensack will be holding a community summit meeting August 30 at the Hackensack Community Center from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The purpose of this meeting is to update community members and stakeholders on community renewal, and the “2021 Comprehensive Plan,” will be used as backdrop. Full time and part time residents of the Hackensack area (10 miles), stakeholders and people who consider Hackensack their “home away from home” are invited. Attendees will break into eight different focus groups with different topics.
Focus groups include community character, land use, infrastructure, energy, transportation, housing, economic development and compliance to codes and ordinances.
The community character group will be focusing on what makes Hackensack unique, and how it can continue to be so.
The land use group will focus on how to best use the city’s land, and how to continue to grow and keep the environment protected.
The infrastructure group will focus on how to build on recycling and green energy.
The energy group will focus on how the area can help switch to cleaner forms of energy.
The transportation group will focus on the renewal of the Front Street and the MNDot project of Highway 371 in 2024.
The housing group will focus on housing needs of the area and how they can be met.
The economic development group will focus on how the area can continue to support new and existing businesses.
The compliance to codes and ordinances group will focus on reviewing and updating the city codes, and encouraging community participation and compliance.
