Karen VonEschen, 81, a longtime former resident of Longville, died at home in Chanhassan, MN, on July 26 of cancer.

She leaves her husband of 60 years, Ferris VonEschen; her children, Tim, of Chicago, and Karla, of Chanhassan; her grandsons, Will and James, of Deephaven, MN; and a brother, Christopher Porterfield, of New York City.

While living in Deephaven and working as an administrator in the Hopkins School District, Karen and Ferris maintained a summer home in Cross Lake. After retiring, they lived for two decades in Longville, then moved to Chanhassan last year. A generous, caring soul with an unfailing sense of humor, she cherished family life and loved animals.
