100 Years Ago

Dec. 22, 1921

  Ole Larson, Lewis Larson and I. G. Emery were in Hackensack on business Thursday.  

   Now that Walker Bay is frozen over, the mailman walks across and hauls the mail on a hand sled.

   Editor Hanrahan, who has been at the helm of the Remer Record, has jumped overboard and the Record reverts back to A.B. Oliver.

Dec. 20, 1946

   Howard Toffle of Boy River had a friend fly him home from Bemidji Saturday and they landed at the river dock.

   Ted Jordan of Longville made a trip Thursday to Chicago with a truckload of Christmas trees.

   Harold Forbes was busy Tuesday clearing the streets of Longville with his bulldozer.

50 Years Ago

Dec. 16, 1971

   Joe White of Federal Dam was out trapping and broke his leg. He is in the Deer River Hospital.

   Mr. and Mrs. Tracy Shepard spent Friday at the Frank Slagle home in Cohasset.

   Joan Lynch was a dinner guest of the Norm Duprees. The ladies enjoyed snowmobiling.

  Woodland Bank, Remer Office, has been completely remodeled and a Grand Re-Opening was held on November 22.

   The Longville Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce moved the Nativity scene down to the corner of County Road #5 and #84. Why do we have an artificial tree on the same corner when we have a land of spectacularly beautiful natural trees?

   Dara Hillstrom, daughter of Dale and Dee Hillstrom of Remer and NHS, has earned the 1996 All-State Academic Girls’ Cross-Country Award.
